Not That Kind of Feminist

I decided to start this blog because of the growing dissatisfaction among women with the feminist leadership in our country. If you are wondering why feminism has become a joke to the point where presidential candidates and journalists feel at ease using sexism, just look at the prostitution and selling-out going on right in the offices of our female leadership in Washington:

Whatever sells magazines, right?

Katherine Spillar using CNN, not as a platform to push women's rights, but as an infomercial to advertise the Ms. mag's special inaugural issue:

"Feminist" Naomi Wolff thinks Obama is Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa rolled all into one and labels anyone who is offended by the cover a right winger:

No Naomi, we never said that men couldn't be feminists. We are saying THAT man, THAT man and his male surrogates who used sexism to beat Hillary Clinton, THAT man who decided to run in a year when it could have been possible for a well-qualified, experienced, and passionate woman and advocate for women and children to become president, should not be on the cover of a feminist magazine.

After Election 2008, I realized that these women do not speak for me nor do they speak for millions of women in this country who worked their heart out to elect a female president. They call themselves feminists but their actions speak to the contrary. Instead of taking other women's concerns to heart, they tell us that we are no longer needed.

Regardless of who you voted for in this election, if you think there is something seriously wrong going on here and that there should be new leadership in the halls of Ms., NOW, Feminist Majority, NARAL, and Planned Parenthood - then this is the blog for you.

I don't care if you voted for Obama or McCain in the general election or if you stayed home in disgust. If you were one of the millions of women who voted for Hillary Clinton only to wonder why the feminists you found on cable news networks were singing a different tune, then it is time for us to hold their feet to the fire. If Naomi Wolff is a feminist then I am a different kind of feminist. If Ms. believes Barack Obama is the new face of feminism, I'm ready to create a different kind of feminism with women and men who have truly devoted their lives fighting for women, children, minorities, and LGBT groups as the face of another kind of feminism.

I'm the original feminist ready to fight for the term these women with a corporate agenda and dollar signs in their eyes have stolen from us and turned into a way for them to make money and advance their careers. I'm ready to dispell the myths and lies perpetuated by the feminist elite and return our goals to the first cover of Ms. where all of us Superwomen could become president.

Naomi Watts, I'm not your kind of feminist and I'm proud of it. Get used to defending your crush for the next 4 years because neither I nor the millions of women you insulted this week are going away.
